In recent months, businesses in Ukraine, and in Lviv in particular, have been suffering from the coronavirus crisis. Surprisingly enough, however, craft production has begun to develop actively. Now businesses have additional time to optimize their internal processes, including accounting for goods. The work on creating labels is also becoming more relevant, as it is the best way to identify products.

The legal aspect of the issue is essential today. For example, the law “On Information for Consumers on Food Products” has already come into force, which obliges manufacturing companies to use new labeling that makes it easier for consumers to choose and informs them about all the features of the production, storage, and use of a particular product. This means that by August 5, 2022, market operators must bring their product labeling in line with the new standards. In addition, the responsibility for the presence of this label lies with the manufacturers.

In the new law, fines for mislabeling food products have increased to 15 minimum wages (about UAH 63,000) for legal entities and 10 minimum wages (about UAH 42,000) for entrepreneurs, compared to the previous regulation. And for misleading the consumer about products and their ingredients that cause allergic reactions or intolerance, the fines are twice as high – 30 and 20 minimum wages (about UAH 152 thousand and UAH 83 thousand).

Label as the main trend in product promotion

Ribbon UA is actively working on creating labels for every taste, which allows us to provide high-quality branding and simplify the process of product identification.

“Color labels and short runs are in trend now. Because craft producers don’t make dozens of products, they need labels in short runs: from 500 to 10,000. For example, to launch new products, large brands need to make flexo plates for each label, and conduct prepress, and this is convenient only for large runs, which makes it unprofitable to test the product because the cost of such work will cost a pretty penny. Nowadays, manufacturers convey information to the end customer with their labels, so they are constantly changing them. And it is in such cases that we can provide fast and high-quality printing in the volumes required by the client,” says Vitalii Vilshanetskyi, one of the founders of Ribbon UA LLC.

Recently, the company received a professional digital printing machine Konica Minolta AccurioLabel 230, which allows printing color labels with variable data (series, date, or batch number). By using the Konica Minolta AccurioLabel 230 with the Scorpio 35, Ribbon Yua is able to ship short runs of labels in a short time.

The AccurioLabel 230 is serviced by Konica Minolta Ukraine, which has a full-fledged office in Lviv, meaning that the machine will be serviced by local service engineers.

“I consider the installation of the Konica Minolta AccurioLabel 230 in Lviv to be a turning point in the market – non-printers are taking confident steps towards diversification and starting to print digital labels. Western Ukraine is known for a large number of local craft producers of food and beverages, as well as decor, clothing, and cosmetics. Therefore, I am confident that short runs of labels will be in demand, and Ribbon Yua will be able to easily load its production,” says Evgeny Shilyaev, Sales Director for Productive and Industrial Printing Equipment at Konica Minolta. Ukraine.

Optimizing product warehousing is a crucial task

Now is a great time to address these issues, and Ribbon UA is ready to help, as the company provides comprehensive solutions for customizing product accounting and labeling processes that allow customers to minimize losses and use resources more efficiently.

“Nowadays, many new businesses that start producing something think that everything is very simple: produce a product, put a markup, sell it. And everyone forgets about internal processes. That is, you have manufactured a product, put it in the warehouse, and, accordingly, a large amount of goods appears in the warehouse, which must be properly accounted for, especially if it is the same type of product. This is where the problems begin. For example, the wrong product was collected and sent to the wrong customer. We are trying to solve such problems by implementing the installation of appropriate equipment: label printers, barcode scanners, and data collection terminals. This process is called “Auto-ID”, i.e. automatic identification, which we help companies to set up,” says Marian Banin, co-founder of Ribbon UA.

Ribbon UA LLC is a partner of well-known manufacturers of sticker printing and barcode scanning equipment: Godex, Honeywell, Newland, Toshiba, Zebra, etc. The company operates primarily in the western region of Ukraine and cooperates with companies in many industries. These are producers of craft food (meat products, confectionery) and alcohol, cosmetics, garments, and industrial equipment. These companies mostly have their production, warehouse, and retail space.

An integrated approach to labeling and logistics processes in production

In addition to selling equipment and materials, Ribbon Ua provides services for the production of technical white labels by thermal printing and thermal transfer printing. This method of cooperation allows small businesses to avoid purchasing their own label printing equipment and not be distracted by the purchase of materials. In addition, the company provides customers with equipment for a trial period absolutely free of charge so that they can make sure that such technical solutions are effective.

On the one hand, the company’s representatives teach customers how to properly account for production processes, track logistics movements of goods, and minimize logistics costs. And after optimizing business processes, such manufacturers pay more attention to branding issues. Of course, they are interested in Ribbon UA’s services in producing color labels that will provide additional benefits to their products.

The company can also provide customers with a ready-made color label, and additional information can be applied to it directly at the customer’s premises using additional consumables. Accordingly, the accounting of products is simplified (barcode scanning, receipt in the warehouse, shipment to the customer).

Therefore, Ribbon Ua not only produces stylish labels but also provides production facilities with consumables for marking or tracking goods, which ensures convenient logistics for both distributors and internal accounting. Therefore, the crisis is not a time for disappointment, but a great opportunity to take care of the development and optimization of all internal processes, which will allow the business to become stronger and move forward with confidence!
